Community OutreachOutreach Activities at Local Festivals

Scheduled throughout the year

The Museum views participation in local educational fairs and festivals as an integral approach to cultivating new audiences and well as supporting community programs. Each year, the education staff and its volunteer educators travel to festivals distributing information about the Museum while engaging young audiences in a hands-on project that links to the creative spirit of the original art colony. During the annual Old Lyme Midsummer Festival, the Museum presents the Hands-On, Minds-On Educational Area, to which local museums and other cultural organizations are invited to attend.

Community OutreachThe Museum has participated in the following outreach events in recent years:

OutreachPartnerships with New Audiences

Scheduled throughout the year

Throughout the year the Museum is looking for opportunities to work collaboratively with new audiences. The annual Old Lyme Midsummer Festival provides a continuing opportunity to work with neighbors in the Old Lyme area. These connections have been extended to a community-wide after school program for middle school students called Our Town/Art Town. For the Museum's annual ArtVenture Camps, the Museum works with representatives of the Kente Club of New London as well as the Centro de la Communidad to reach families who could benefit the scholarship program.
